It is designed to assist a project manager in developing a plan, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing the budget and analyzing workloads. It has various templates, and project sites can be created in Office 365 or SharePoint with ease. Custom objects such as calendars, views, tables, filters and fields are stored in an enterprise global which is shared by all users. The application creates critical path schedules, and critical chain and event chain methodology. Schedules can be resource-leveled, and chains are visualized in a Gantt chart. In addition, MS-Project provides you with out-of-the-box reports such as Burndown and Resource Overview, and allows you to create your own reports using its simple Excel-like functionality. It has integrations with Lync (Now renamed Skype for Business) for real-time conversations, and comes with access to apps from its Office store.
