Yes, looker offers several mechanisms to define when a query should come from a cache entry stored by looker (assuming the exact sql being run has been run before), and when that cache should be invalidated (either triggered by some change in value such as date or after a defined period of time). Most customers elect to line up the cache policy within looker with the frequency of their ETL schedule so that they are not querying directly on the db when the data has not changed, nor are they querying stale data stored in cache when fresh data is available.
